Beginning Band Day!! April 18, 2026

Beginning Band Day will be held for rising 6th graders on Saturday, April 18, at TA Dugger! This is an exciting day where students find out which instrument is going to be a great fit for them! Families will be asked to register for a particular time to help aid in the flow that morning. Please note the following about registration:

  • Please make every effort to take advantage of the opportunity for rising 6th graders that wish to participate in the 2026-27 TAD Band on April 18. This is a very special day that will allow students to try a variety of instruments and work with several different instructors.

  • Registration will open on March 13. It will be hosted by a form that will be posted here on the TAD Band website.

  • If an appointment time is not listed, bookings have already maxed out that time slot. Only time slots with availability will be visible through the form.

  • Registration for appointments will close on April 14 to allow prep for the appointments.

How will Beginning Band Day work?

  • Enter through TAD Cafeteria doors about 10 minutes before appointment & check-in. Parents can wait for students in the Cafeteria. We will send them back to you as soon as they are finished.

  • Students will be paired with TAD student guides throughout the appointment to get the inside scoop about what band is!

  • Students are not required to meet with the percussion instructor if they do not wish to play percussion, but all students will meet with brass & woodwind instructors.

  • We hope each appointment will last 30 minutes or less.

  • After trying instruments, students will meet with Mrs. Hutchison for final instrument selection. Students will receive a packet detailing materials, etc. needed. Parents are encouraged to attend the Beginning Band Parent Meeting on May 19 at 6:00pm in the TAD Auditorium where we will discuss the information in the packet.

  • We hope to stick as close as possible to our appointment times. We appreciate your patience through the process! We want each student to experience success and the correct instrument selection goes a long way!

We are excited to work with our new students! We cannot wait for you to be part of the Betsy Band!

T.A. Dugger Jr. High School Band program is made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the Elizabethton City School System in Northeast Tennessee.
